Hydromat's Eclipse 12-100 12-station rotary transfer machine features multiple tool spindles with one chip management and coolant system.
Hydromat Inc. presents the Eclipse 12-100, a 12-station rotary transfer machine. This platform features multiple tool spindles with one chip management and coolant system. It also has a one-piece, heavy-duty cast-iron base that is 2 m in diameter. This ductile iron casting is designed for the use of three-axis and four-axis electric servo, quill-type tool spindles.
The bar-fed collet version has a workpiece diameter of 65 mm (2.5") and features a maximum length of 180 mm (7") with 127 mm (5") of material outside the collet. An indexing chuck version features a table with vertical chucks capable of rotating workpieces 360 degrees. This system is said to be ideal for mid- to high-volume, precision production of irregular-shaped castings and is designed to accommodate families of parts. The machine uses hydraulically-actuated, self-centering two- or three-jaw chucks to provide accuracy and part clamping rigidity.
The three-axis tool spindles are 55/250 units, referring to the 55 mm front bearing size and a 250 mm stroke at the Z axis. The X-axis stroke is 80 mm and the Y-axis is 100 mm. The four-axis module features a flange spindle for mounting a turning head with 30 mm X-axis stroke, or a 160 mm diameter head for 5,000 rpm cutting.
The units use HSK 50 tool holders, powered by a FANUC ailT6/12000HV motor. A 20,000 rpm tool spindle is also available. A CNC head features an outside diameter of 160 mm with a radial stroke of 25 mm. The machine features quick-change, preset tool heads for easy changeovers.
