GrindSmart 6‐axis tool grinding machine with 16‐station wheel and nozzle changer
Rollomatic’s 16‐station wheel changer on its GrindSmart 630XW3 CNC 6‐axis tool grinding machine features simultaneous tool unloading/loading during wheel change to shorten cycle time for improved productivity. This model is part of the GrindSmart series of tool and cutter grinding machines with an axis configuration that incorporate six fully interpolated axes (three rotary and three linear). The machine also incorporates linear axis drive technology.
The machine offers simultaneous changing of wheel packs and associated coolant manifolds with coolant nozzles. The company says it has the smallest footprint of a 16‐station wheel changer and only adds 30 inches to the width of the machine. The tool unload/load happens simultaneously during wheel change to shorten cycle time and utilizes embedded intelligence to keep frequently used wheel packs in front to shorten cycle time.
The wheel arbors are the HSK‐type with a proprietary attachment design that ensures less than 0.00005" total indicator reading (TIR) over the life of the grinding spindle. It enables higher productivity in small‐batch grinding of complex and high‐performance cutting tools. The machine features enhanced autonomy and uses Rollomatic’s VGPro desk top tool design program.
