A visit to Blum-Novotest Inc. in Erlanger, Kentucky, offered a chance to learn about an array of laser probes, touch probes and split system probes, including a probe with a laser for milling tools and a touch probe for static turning tools.

The LaserControl NT-H 3D probe has both a laser for milling tools that provides non-contact measurement of rotating tools and a touch probe for static turning tools with a flat surface for non-rotating tools that maintains contact with the whole surface.
When you want to learn about a product, the best way is to see it up close and actually hold it in your hands. This past Monday, Blum-Novotest Inc. offered such an opportunity. The subsidiary of Blum-Novotest GmbHhad, a German manufacturer of measuring and testing technology, invited several editors from different Garder Business Media publications to its Erlanger, Kentucky, office to learn about an array of laser probes, touch probes and split system probes.
One tool measurement probe in particular stood out to me as notable for Production Machining readers. The LaserControl NT-H 3D probe has both a laser for milling tools and a touch probe for static turning tools, making it a suitable system for measuring the whole range of tools in mill-turn machining centers. The laser provides non-contact measurement of rotating tools, while the flat surface of the touch probes ensure a tactile measurement of non-rotating tools as it maintains contact with the whole surface.
