Versatile Sandblasting for Deburring Intricate Geometries

The microscale, consistent feed and pinpoint accuracy of Comco’s MicroBlasting sandblasting systems is well suited for deburring intricate geometries, texturing to a sharp delineation and removing thin coatings and films — all without causing dimensional changes to the underlying part.

MicroBlasting (sandblasting on a microscale) uses small nozzles and a mixture of compressed dry air and abrasive to alter surface finishes and remove unwanted material.  MicroBlasting best suits parts as small as a grain of rice to as large as a basketball. Depending on part surface, it can be used to texture to 0.007" delineation, create a surface finish with a specific Ra or deburr the ID of a 25-micron capillary tip.

This versatile process is used across manufacturing to refine small precision parts that must meet strict industry standards. With a simple adjustment of blast pressure, abrasive type or nozzle design, a Comco blaster can easily adapt from a tool that deburrs the heel of a stainless steel needle to a tool that textures a mold cavity. 

The MicroBlaster is tough enough to perform in high-volume production environments, but versatile and affordable enough for shops or hobbyists just blasting a few days a week. The MicroBlaster MB1000
is a compact, lightweight, single-tank micro-abrasive blaster that fits easily on top of any workbench to conserve valuable shop space. The 2-lb capacity powder tank is quick and easy to refill.

The MicroBlaster MB1002 is a dual-tank, micro-abrasive blaster for applications that require a two-step process. With the dual tank, an operator can blast a part with an aggressive cutting abrasive to remove burrs and quickly change to a peening abrasive to impart a different finish on the same part. Separate tanks and handpieces ensure that the powders never mix.
