Heidenhain’s AMO WMK 3010S rotational speed sensor is said to optimize the main spindle operation on milling and turning machines. The sensor provides speed data and supports the capturing of that spindle’s operating status data to optimize the machine operation and lower process costs.
The sensor includes a USB interface which enables the operating status of the spindle to output to the machine control. This enables the user to record rotational speed, operating time, temperature and more — a combination which is said to improve overall performance and uptime expectations.
The company says the sensor has a rugged, inductive, incremental scanning head on the WMK 3010S which is available with a 1Vpp interface. It is said to have a minimalist modular design which enables this IP67-rated product to be installed in existing customer designs without significant modifications. It is available in the common industry line count increments and can be operated up to a maximum speed of 50,000 rpm.
Other useful features offered in the sensor include inductive scanning, IP67 protection, integrated acquisition of operational data and offline output of data via a USB.
